Shenzhen: Minimum Salary Increased

Recently, the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Labor and Social Security has decided to raise the minimum wage in the special economic zone to RMB 810 per month, up from RMB 690 per month (minimum salary in Shenzhen during the year 2005-2006) with effect from 1 July 2006 to 30 June 2007. The amount has been increased by over 15%. The hourly minimum salary amount has been set to RMB 4.66. For the workers in Shenzhen's two other districts - Long Gang and Bao'An, outside the designated special economic zone, the minimum salary has been raised to RMB 4.02 per hour, and RMB 700 per month, representing an increase of more than 20%.
