Dalian Office - Hot prospects for software industry in Dalian

According to a recent presentation by the Dalian Information Industry Bureau, software and IT will become the most important sector in the city by 2010, with sales revenue of RMB40bn, and it will become China’s IT outsourcing centre. Dalian already has 510 companies in the industry, including 30 Fortune 500 firms such as IBM, Dell, GE and HP, employing some 40,000 people. Enterprise size is expanding - there are seven companies with over 1,000 staff and 50 with over 100. In Dalian Software Park, there are 280 companies, 40% of them foreign. The city government has a specialized fund to develop senior software and IT staff, with some RMB30m offered to 3,000 people in the last two years.
