In the current era of Globalization, its best if Participating Nations/ Territories are under the umbrella of their respective Secretary of State and Commerce, and under NGO-stakeholder such as U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Association, Bankers Association, and the like. Such vetting process would enhance the prestige of the participants, give confidence to those thinking about dealing with such U.S. firms, and enhance international fair trade.

All the self-congratulations notwithstanding, the sell off of what should be the American people's pavilion to corporate interests has all the dignity of a cattle auction. That the Administration conspired to make this possible after a series of serious irregularities doesn't make it right; in fact, it calls into question the role of the US Government as a broker for private interests.

No doubt there will be other Expos in which the US will want to participate. Will the US Government also facilitate their ownership by corporate interests, in the name of the American people? For shame.
