Chris Devonshire-Ellis is the publisher and one of the lead writers for China Briefing. Established in 1999, the China Briefing brand was the first magazine about China business law, tax, accounting and operational issues faced by foreign investors in China to be publsihed and distributed, in English, in mainland China. It was distributed throughout major hotel chains business centres, embassies, consulates and other business venues, as well to selected bar venues popular with foreigners and expats. Later, as the internet became more prominent, it was one of the first business blogs featuring China business content, and continues to provide daily updates concerning China regulatory issues as affects foreign investors today. In addition to a regular, ten issues per annum magazine, China Briefing also provides online daily news content and has published a number of China business law and tax technical guides. Several of these have reached multiple editions as China's legal framework has changed over the years.
