China-Hong Kong to Promote Further Liberalization under CEPA


To enhance cooperation in the services sector, and to facilitate mutual economic development, China and Hong Kong signed the “Ninth Supplement to the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement on June 29.

Setting Up and Operating a Company in Hong Kong


One of the key advantages that Hong Kong holds over other holding company jurisdictions is its Closer Economic Partnership Agreement with Mainland China. Set up in 2002 after China’s accession to the WTO, it is essentially a free trade agreement. Also Supplement VIII, signed in December 2011 and implemented from April 2012, deepened liberalization of trade in services.

China Customs Revises Hong Kong CEPA Ad Valorem Definition


China’s General Administration of Customs has decided to revise Article 6 of the “Provisions on the Implementation of the Rules of Origin for Trade in Goods under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) between Mainland China and Hong Kong.”
