Xinjiang as a Central Hub for Investing in Russia and Kazakhstan

Business Seminar, Beijing, Monday November 8

Oct. 28 – Dezan Shira & Associates, in cooperation with Kazakhstan Consulting and Beiten Burkhardt, is holding a business seminar and networking event on investing in Russia and Kazakhstan. This event will provide investors practical and relevant information on doing business in the complex markets of Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as an overview on China’s new developments and opportunities for trade with these countries. An introduction to Urumqi as a Central Asian hub and China’s new special economic zone at Yili near Kazakhstan’s border will also be provided.

Around 100 senior business executives, government representatives, and media representatives based in China, Russia and Kazakhstan are expected to be present at this event, providing attendees a unique opportunity to learn about the particularities of the complex Russian and Kazakh market. The business seminar will be followed by a cocktail event, giving attendees ample opportunity to network.

Anna is the head of Russian employment and migration law practices in Beiten Burkhardt in Moscow. Her recent experience includes advising on problematic individual or mass dismissals, on employment and migration issues involving the Russian authorities, employment liability issues and drafting due diligence, as well as providing consultations on Russian migration and corporate law.

Ulf Schneider, Managing Director, Kazakhstan Consulting, Almaty
Ulf established Kazakhstan Consulting in 2003. With offices in Almaty, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Minsk, Kiev, and Hamburg, the firm provides multinational investors with consulting services in such areas as business set-up in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

Chris Devonshire-Ellis, Principal, Dezan Shira & Associates, Beijing
Chris is the founder of Dezan Shira & Associates, Asia’s largest independent business advisors and tax consultants, advising multinational businesses on matters of foreign direct investment into China, Hong Kong, India and Vietnam. He has traveled extensively throughout Xinjiang and is a Congress Member of the Business Advisory Council of the United Nations Development Program-supported Greater Tumen Initiative.
