Solar power
U.S.-based Chinese manufacturer Worldwide Manufacturing USA has filed for eight Chinese patents seeking protection for solar module technology. These patents will address improvements in voltage receiving capacity, production process enhancements, power output increases and design improvements.

Chinese solar cells maker JA Solar Holdings is looking for a new board member to replace Dr. Robert Yang, who has resigned, effective March 2, 2009. Dr Yang joined the company as an independent director in July 2008.


Air transport
The parent company of Air China, China National Aviation Holding Co. will finalize the acquisition of East Star Airlines by the end of March.

The Civil Aviation Administration of Chinareported that the country’s air cargo traffic for February 2009 fell by 28 percent compared to the same period last year. Domestic passenger air traffic increased by 13.47 percent but passenger traffic on international routes declined by 16 percent.

Hainan Airlines plans to initiate three weekly return flights from Beijing to Moscow.
