Jan. 25 – Software companies listed in China’s 2009 national plan that did not avail of a corporate income tax rate of less than 10 percent last year can pay their taxes at the preferential rate of 10 percent.

The move is to further the growth of the country’s software industry and integrated circuit industry, as well as develop key software enterprises. The 186 companies included in the list include famous technology brands like Datang Software, UFIDA Software, Hanwang Technology, Kingdee Software, Hundsun Technologies, Alibaba, Samsung, Canon, Ricoh, Tencent, China National Software & Service, Neusoft, Anhui USTC iFLYTEK, Beijing Ultrapower Software, and Netease.com.

Xinhua reports that the government might implement more preferential policies for the industry later on citing that the 3 percent value added tax for the software industry may be extended until this year.
