BEIJING, Jul. 16 – Foreign direct investment into China rose 19.6 percent to US$51.43 billion in the first six months of 2010 the Ministry of Commerce announced in Beijing yesterday.
Liu Yajun, the director of the ministry’s Foreign Administration Department, said that in June alone, China’s FDI rose 39.6 percent year-on-year to US$12.51 billion, the 11th straight month that FDI has grown.
According to the ministry, the Chinese government approved the establishment of over 12,400 foreign-funded enterprises in the first half of 2010, an increase of 18.8 percent over the first half of 2009.
Good news from the US too, in my meetings with Beijing Vice Mayor Guo Zhongwen three weeks back he mentioned that US investment in Beijing was up 75% on the year on year – positive signs of a US recovery. – Chris
