Dear Michael,

The regulations have changed regionally and depending on where your representative office is located, different steps are required. For more information, please contact info@dezshira.com.

We have a rep office, founded some 7 years ago ... never imported a car.

Dear David,

Excellent info, thanks for that. In fact, I was approached by an associate about importing a Car into China and he offered me the RMB 20,000 as payment for it. I was too confused over what is to be done, because he's a good friend of mine and I wanted to check everything before saying Yes or No.

So, the basic fact is that if I give him or RO licence and he imports the car and sells it to someone else, and if the authorities come looking for the car that our RO has imported, then I'm in a big mess, correct? Not worth the RMB 20,000 in my opinion.

Dear David,

We have an entire book on how to set up WFOEs in China (as well as one detailing how to set up an RO in China) located in our bookstore http://shopping.china-briefing.com. You may also check out the archives section for past China Briefing magazines that may have focused on these two structures.
